Dropping the Crap-Ware Fee?

Clearly stating what is actually going on would help the brand I guess, nobody likes companies that "weasel" themselves through everything.

Quote:
A spokesperson said that "Fresh Start" will be a "no charge" option for some laptops. "Fresh Start" will not be available on all computers ordered from Sony, however.

Sony DVDs produced by Sony. :-)

According to the "Optische Datenspeicher" FAQs from the well respected german Computer Magazin c't, the only writable and rewritable DVD Brands that are not actually relabled "noname" products are those by Sony and Plextor, and while those from Plextor are of slighly better quality, the Sony ones are quite good too.

I like this, because it shows that in this case Sony does not weaken its brand to make yet another buck, but instead provides a real service to the customer who can be sure thathe receiveives consistant quality when gettting a Sony product. Sony should make more of a fuss about this, because the rewritable and writable DVD Market is quite a mess, with respect to quality and consistancy.

Winning the High-Dev Format War

If Sony was determined to "win" the HD Format war, they would make BlueRay a free format, no Patent Royalitites, no DRM, no Bullshit, then they could go for China as a BlurRay proponent.

Even Sony People rip DVDs,...

... and this is a good thing, if only someone would stand up and start caring about the people who by their stuff.

Consumer backlash against DRM could fire

Cool Design by Sony

Sony is innovating in the PC Space again. :-)

Great, check out the cool design of this new device:

Vaio VGX-TP1E

But obviously the name for this device sucks hard. :-(

Sony Vegas: wasted potential

In my opinion Sony Vegas is a really cool product, and could become one of the most popular video apps ever, yet it fails to live up to its potential, because of obvious lack of attention to details. Read this blog post from Eugenia for example. All these problems are not really technically difficult challenges, you just need to do two things to solve them: A) think about the problem and envision a solution, B) Implement the solution. And if you cannot come up with an solution on your own, look at other peoples software to find out what they are doing.

Cheers
